Children of Parkside Community School help unveil Sculpture commissioned from Franke Sissons

To celebrate Franke Sissons’ 230 years of design, innovation and manufacturing in Chesterfield the company commissioned a new stainless steel sculpture for the town.

Working with the company’s design and engineering apprentices and the children of Parkside Community School Franke Sisssons’ invited the students to come up with concepts and designs for the project estimated to be worth in excess of £5k.

The final design was formally unveiled as part of Chesterfield’s Made in Chesterfield Event.

The new sculpture is situated in the pocket-park donated to the town by the District Civic Society.

Andy Dukelow, Managing Director of Franke Sissons:“The Year 10 students at Parkside have been wonderfully creative and focused on this project.    We wanted something that truly reflects the manufacturing pedigree and history of the area, our own excellence in stainless steel but that most importantly engaged with young people and inspired them.”

Elle Reynolds, Year 10 student from Parkside: “This has been a really creative experience.  I’ve enjoyed working in our teams to develop the different aspects of the design.”

Bayley Siddall, Year 10 student from Parkside: “It’s given me a real insight into what I’d like to do in the future.”
