Since 1947, Lignacite has consistently developed forward-thinking mixes and designs to produce superior masonry blocks for the UK construction industry.

Today, Lignacite’s block manufacturing plants, located in Suffolk and Essex, are responsible for producing more than 120,000 blocks per day, enough to build approximately 100 houses. The company works closely with leading builders’ merchants throughout London, East Anglia and the South East, as well as supplying many major housebuilders and contractors.

Lignacite’s blocks have been used in countless major city builds, many of which are in London, while its fleet of FORS Gold-accredited lorries enables the company to deliver to almost any site in the capital and beyond.

Recent projects involving Lignacite’s products include the construction of 22 Bishopsgate, Chelsea Barracks and Google’s new UK headquarters, not to mention the impressive redevelopment of Battersea Power Station.

Sustainability is at the heart of Lignacite’s operations. From inception to the present day, its blocks have been making use of recycled and secondary aggregates, including the graded particles of wood (lignum) that gave the business its name.

Having recently been awarded the ISO 50001 Energy Management Standard, the company has further demonstrated its commitment to sustainability by switching its on-site plant vehicles from diesel to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), reducing carbon emissions by 440 tonnes per year. In addition, the introduction of a paperless delivery system has helped Lignacite to significantly reduce its waste and environmental impact.

With a pledge to reach net zero by 2030, a full 20 years before the target set by the Government, Lignacite is determined to help create a more sustainable future for the construction industry.
