Surface water drainage systems specified for City of Culture regeneration

  • 3 Jan 2017

Gatic’s ProSlot and Filcoten surface water drainage systems have been specified for use in the new City of Culture’s Public Realm project.

After being named 2017’s City of Culture, Kingston upon Hull issued a multi-million pound refurbishment of its centre. The area is being completely transformed; from its historic marina through to its Paragon Interchange.

The Public Realm regeneration plan includes the creation of wider pedestrian areas, water features, outdoor cafes and seating areas; granite paving will be fitted throughout. It is scheduled for completion in Spring 2017.

The project’s contractor, Eurovia Infrastructure, specified Gatic’s Filcoten and ProSlot for the city’s entire surface water drainage.

Developed for use in multi-purpose areas, Filcoten is a range of lightweight concrete channel drains. Load classes vary from A15 – suitable for pedestrian schemes – to F900, for applications that require a secure and robust solution.

All models – Pro, Pave, Green, Tec and Self – offer improved strength and environmental compatibility.

Gatic’s ProSlot drain solution has been designed for use in shopping centres and other pedestrian areas. Offering an unobtrusive finish, the system boasts impressive drainage capacity and can be installed quickly and easily.

Both surface water drainage systems offer the flexibility and performance required for the extensive City of Culture Public Realm project.
