Record breaking value sales in June helped Britain’s Builders’ Merchants hit their best ever quarter since the Builders Merchants Building Index (BMBI) began in July 2014.
The latest figures from the Builders Merchants Building Index (BMBI) reveal year-on-year builders’ merchants’ value sales to builders and contractors are on an upward trajectory.
Total value sales to builders and contractors by Britain’s builders’ merchants in Q1 2021 increased 8.6% in comparison to the previous quarter, according to the BMBI report published in May.
According to the latest BMBI report, value sales to builders, roofers and contractors in February were 2.3% higher than in February 2020, on an equal number of trading days.
Sales to builders and contractors by Britain’s builders’ merchants in December 2020 were 8.8% higher than in the same month the year previous, according to BMBI Stats.

Total Builders’ Merchants’ value sales to builders and contractors in November 2019 were down -7.4%, compared with the same month in 2018. On one less trading day, average sales a day dropped -3.0%.
