E-tender service provider, Millstream Associates, will be showcasing its flagship product, Tenders Direct, at Constructionline’s upcoming ‘North East Meet the Buyer’ event. Tenders Direct has been developed to inform private companies on new public sector business opportunities.
Accounting for over 6% of the country’s total economic output, the UK’s construction industry is worth £103bn. Although it has experienced oscillations in growth since the recession, it has seen positive signs of progress since 2013.
For instance, there has been an increase in private sector orders, which are now worth £15.3bn; public sector orders value £5.4bn, and private sector infrastructure orders total £2.5bn.
Considering this, Millstream Associates has developed the Tenders Direct service to provide private companies with information on new business opportunities from the public sector.
The Tenders Direct team work to help organisations publicise their contracts, allowing direct access to contracts that they may be unaware of.
Its research team identifies contracts to include within the Tender Direct database – it sources smaller contracts that would not be published on central resources, such as the Office Journal (OJEU).
Around 70% of the construction tenders published over the past year have been classified as smaller companies below the EU threshold of £4.3million.
The tenders are manually categorised to ensure that relevant opportunities are provided and personalised to suit individual preferences.
Over 4,000 private sector companies use Tenders Direct to discover new business opportunities. It has seen an increase of 14% in public sector construction tenders within the last 12 months.
From January to July this year, there has been more than 9,000 available construction contracts; it is likely that these will rise over the next year.
Tenders Direct has noted a 35% increase in renewable energy tenders, including biomass heating, geothermal/heat pumps, energy efficiency consultancy, solar panels and combined heat and gas consultancy.
There has also been a 25% increase in Architecture and Design team opportunities, whilst new build tenders have augmented by 8%.
These developments reflect the Government’s Construction 2025 strategy and plans for growth in these areas of the construction sector.
Millstream Associates will be showcasing Tenders Direct at Constructionline’s ‘North East Meet the Buyer’ event, which will take place on Thursday 10th September 2015.
The event will allow the North East of England to explore the new public sector business opportunities in the construction industry.
