TK Encasa platform lift at the Riverside Stadium

TK Encasa install platform lift at Riverside Stadium

  • 12 Oct 2015

ThyssenKrupp (TK) Encasa has installed one of its platform lifts at Middlesborough FC’s Riverside Stadium to improve disabled access for away fans in the south-east corner of the ground.

The Stockton-based company installed the platform lift at the Championship club’s stadium to allow disabled fans access to a specially-designated area, rather than having to remain at pitch level with a restricted view.

Roy Sinclair, TK Encasa’s UK Business Manager, described the project as a ‘labour of love’ for the firm:

“My marketing manager Michael Sinclair is from Thornaby, and we are both Boro fans, so we went down to check on the lift and stayed to see the Brentford match. We service all the lifts at the Riverside, so we know how well it is equipped for supporters.”

The installation follows a Government report publicising disabled people’s experience in football stadiums – since which all Premier League clubs have agreed to make their stadiums compliant with the Accessible Stadia Guide by August 2017.
