The efficiency of REHAU PVC-U windows, as well as their security and easy to fit profiles, have seen them specified for three schools in the south east of England.
The REHAU TOTAL70c top hung, outward opening casement windows in slate grey finish, were installed at Harris Primary Academies in the south of England.
Shortlands in Bromley, Kent; Chafford Hundred in Grays, Essex and East Dulwich in London schools had three key specifications; thermal insulation, sound insulation and security.
The REHAU TOTAL70 range possess strong thermal insulation qualities, which was key to the success of this project.
The range achieved the lowest possible U values and the best window energy rating (WER), demonstrating the ability to retain heat within the building, thus reducing loss of energy and minimising energy outgoings.
With noise elimination essential for a school building, a quiet working environment for pupils is vital. Therefore, the level of glazing is an important consideration here, with the the TOTAL70c system’s double and triple glazed sealed units and an acoustic specification providing maximum sound insulation.
Security is also a vital consideration, with the TOTAL70c profile carrying PAS 24 security standards and the multi-internal chambers allowing further installation of larger steel reinforcements if necessary.
Further benefits of REHAU’s TOTAL70c window system include the quick and easy nature of fitting them and their aesthetic appeal, achieving a contemporary look for all the academies.
The Harris Primary Academy Shortlands opted for dual colour windows, which were finished with a glazed in, Louvre colour matched to the window profile, providing ventilation for all seasons.
Kevin O’Neill, Commercial Sales Manager from REHAU, said: “Our TOTAL70c windows are particularly suitable for education applications due to a number of qualities they posses.
“From the high levels of thermal insulation they provide, to the noise abatement and the security features, the windows are a great solution to a number of requirements. The aesthetic qualities and colour variety often also play an important role.”
