Translucent daylighting system specified for new sustainable offices

  • 14 Oct 2016

The Kalwall translucent daylighting system has been used in combination with Kalwall panel unit windows at the new Headquarters for Airdale International Air Conditioning in Leeds.

Designed by DarntonB3 architects, the 23,000 square metre facility achieved a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’, and the use of Kalwall glazing was a significant factor.

Kalwall uses highly insulating glass that eliminates shadows and glare and the start contrasts of light and shade, eliminating the need for blinds, curtains or solar control. No matter the weather conditions, the building is bathed with natural diffused daylight which means less artificial lighting and reduced costs.

Kalwall product is increasingly being used for the refurbishment of cladding or roof lights on both new build and aged buildings.
