Tyvek 500 HV coverall developed to reduce laundering costs

  • 16 Sep 2016

The Tyvek 500 HV coverall has been developed by Dupont to meet the high visibility needs of those working in rail, mining, road maintenance and other hazardous sectors.

Portrait of a miner working at the mine and talking on a walkie-talkieAs a limited-use coverall, the Tyvek 500 HV reduces the additional costs of collecting, transporting, laundering and monitoring associated with traditional reusable high visibility workwear. In addition to HV protection, the coverall also protects wearers from anti-static, chemical and biological hazards.

The regular laundering of high vis clothing inevitably leads to degradation in the effectiveness of the reflective quality and therefore needs to be monitored to ensure it is up to standard after every five washes.

Tyvek 500 HV does not degrade, and is compliant to the highest class of the international high visibility norm: EN ISO 20471:2013. It is also compliant to BS EN 20471:2013 in the UK.

Tyvek 500 HV features an ergonomic design with elasticated cuffs, ankles and wait, as well as plentiful room in the crotch area and a comfortable collar.

Mrs Valérie Pierret, EMEA Marketing Manager at DuPont, commented: “With the launch of Tyvek® 500 HV we are truly helping to meet the needs of, not only a range of workers who need HV to be protected, but also the businesses they work in through the reduction of the monitoring, administration and cost associated with servicing this specialist clothing.”
