One of VEKA Group’s leading members of its wide fabricator network, Ashford Commercial, recently completed a major window and door replacement contract for Lawtech Group at the Watling Gardens estate in North-West London.
Ashford Commercial installed more than 1000 Matrix 70 casement windows in White, as well as 170 balcony doors, providing Secured By Design peace of mind for residents. With the towers fully scaffolded, Ashford’s highly experienced installers completed one storey a day by working closely with the sub-contractors to apply the high-performance External Wall Insulation system with minimal disruption.
The Matrix 70s were very appealing, offering numerous benefits to the project such as A-rated energy performance, PAS 24 protection against forced entry frames, and VEKA Group’s commitments to recycling.
Together the fenestration and insulated render create a new energy efficient envelope to each block, providing U-values of 0.29 W/m2 K and 1.2 W/m2 K respectively. The rock mineral wool is also non-combustible, achieving the best class of fire performance, while the window system and doors offer a minimum 60 minutes resistance to the passage of heat and hot gases.
To assist with the design of the Watling Gardens contract, VEKA’s technical department carried out wind load calculations, while the system’s compliance with PAS 2030 was essential to a scheme being funded by an energy supplier. Although there has been no conclusive post completion assessment of the improvements achieved, similar window replacement and EWI upgrades to high-rise homes have seen residents’ fuel bills fall by a third or more.
The Norfolk based business manufacturers, supplies and installs the full range of VEKA doors and windows, offering clients a comprehensive contract support service, including partnering, and maintained lifecycles in excess of 35 years.
