When Klick Technology needed the perfect bespoke solid surface for a pathology laboratory design brief, they knew exactly who to turn to – Velstone.
Known for its smooth, non-porous nature and resistance to bacterial growth, Velstone’s solid surface was the most suitable for the laboratory worktops. Velstone were also able to provide a continuous seam free surface with coved upstand, ideal for a sterile environment, preventing the accumulation of dust or dirt.
Klick Technology’s decision to partner with Velstone was driven by the material’s proven track record in healthcare environments.
Jonathan Whitehurst, MD, comments: “The priority for the client was a hygienic environment suitable for a pathology laboratory and we sought a surface that could withstand intense usage while maintaining its integrity and appearance. Velstone emerged as the clear choice, offering a perfect blend of functionality and aesthetics.
“The intricacy of the worktop specification required us to work closely with the Velstone team and their experience and advice was vital and ensured the worktops were machined & fitted within the budget and lead times.”
Alex Clarke, Velstone’s Operations Manager, says: “We were thrilled to work alongside Klick Technology and from concept to execution they took on board our recommendations to get the best result. Our solid surfaces offer unparalleled durability and ease of maintenance – crucial factors in laboratory settings where sterility is paramount.”
The coving was fabricated as a seamless part of the worktop while Velstone’s solid surface was perfect for the requirement of bespoke, oversize stainless-steel sinks with rinse facilities. Velstone vertical splash guards were included on each side of the sinks, to minimise splashing onto the worksurfaces.
This collaboration showcases the power of combining cutting-edge materials with expert laboratory design and Sameer Sawant, Velstone’s Managing Director, adds: “Velstone is engineered to withstand the rigorous demands of medical and laboratory environments and its adaptability allows for custom designs that meet the specific needs of pathology labs.
“Our ability to provide a continuous smooth seam-free finished surface with coved upstand makes Velstone ideal for assisting with thorough cleaning and decontamination.”
