The systems were fitted on a rooftop garden to provide a robust

Featuring a large rooftop garden which required a robust waterproofing solution, Hydrotech was chosen by BDP Architects due to it being a single-source solution which ensures the integrity of the roof for years to come.

Alumasc’s technical team was brought in early on in the design stage due to the complexity of choosing a system which could accommodate the needs of the intricate roof detailing on the rooftop garden.

The Alumasc green roof system was introduced in order to address the need for a suitable growing medium that could be deposited onto the five-storey building’s roof in large volumes, due to the development being situated in a busy city-centre location.

Over 4,000m2 of the Hydrotech hot melt system was installed under the 2,000m2 of green roofing at 185-221 Buchanan Street, ensuring a watertight system which is BBA approved and had FM and European Technical Approval.

Alumasc’s green roof systems under the Blackdown brand are available in Intensive, Biodiverse and Extensive application categories with a wide range of planting options.
