BM TRADA aims to improve its testing services with the installation of its new weather rig

The new rig, which was supplied by K Schulten, has been installed to improve BM TRADA’s turnaround times and build on the capacity of its mechanical testing laboratory.

It offers a test wall for testing doors, walls and windows which can accommodate large samples of up to 3.7m by 3.7m in size.

It also incorporates a monitoring system, which is controlled via a Windows computer, and pneumatic clamps for quicker turnaround times.

The new weather rig will undertake a period of calibration testing and internal audits before client testing can begin.

Testing with BM TRADA

Over the years, BM TRADA has obtained UKAS accreditation for testing air permeability to BS EN 1026.

The company also offers watertightness to BS EN 1027 and testing for resistance to wind load to BS EN 12211.

It is also a Notified Test Laboratory for EN 14351-1, the product standard for external pedestrian doorsets and windows.

With its new weather rig, BM TRADA hopes to upgrade its testing facilities to offer improved lead times to its customers.
