Summerhouse

Reasons why the demand of summerhouses is rising?

  • 30 Jan 2020

The demand for summerhouses is on the rise due to them becoming increasingly popular for the homeowner for a range of reasons; with the outdoor building acquiring multiple uses that can often benefit both everyday life and financial gain, and with so many available purposes; it comes with no surprise that desire for a summerhouse in the garden is increasing.

Below are some points as to just exactly why the demand for the outdoor building is rising…

Cheaper than upsizing

Upsizing a home isn’t always that simple when you are a homeowner – it is not always easy to purchase a house on a larger scale when you have outgrown your current home.

If the main reason for moving is purely down to space, then summerhouses are a more cost effective option, as they provide additional living space and of course storage.

Not only does investing in a summerhouse have the ability to increase the value of your home, it also provides the option to avoid additional costs associated with moving, such as solicitor fees, removal vehicle hire and an increase in mortgage repayments.

Home office

With the push on wellbeing, working from home is becoming increasingly popular due to the many benefits it provides such as employee satisfaction, and employees valuing the financial gain thanks to a reduction in commuter costs.

Whilst working from home can have its benefits, it is vitally important to have a process in place that ensures work life and personal life can still be kept separate.

To avoid blurring the boundaries, summerhouses are being used for the sole purpose of creating an ‘at home’ office.

Storage

Summerhouses are a great way to gaining more storage space and it is one of the main motives for the rise in demand for the building. With summerhouses being so versatile, it allows you the chance to use the space for not only extra storage but also for whatever you like, for example you could use the area as a shed-like space.

Rather than being hindered with garden products in the house, a summerhouse can often result in a tidier and more organised environment.

Better social life

When having a summerhouse, you will find they provide the perfect social space for garden parties, gatherings such as book clubs or even time to get away from a busy household.

Social occasions are becoming very popular and forever increasing and, with that, the consideration of the unpredictability of the UK’s weather, it makes having a summerhouse a valuable necessity to guarantee a roof over your head and to keep you warm and dry.

Cheaper to keep warm in winter

Over the winter months, the temperature drops drastically, and the average property owner’s heating bill will most likely increase due to demand.

Due to a typical summerhouse being on a smaller scale in comparison to a house’s parameters, it means heating the property will take less energy, resulting in a more cost-effective outcome. So, for many, if a day indoors is necessary, staying in the summerhouse is a much more mindful route to cutting costs.
