Windstopper Extreme sheathing board launched in the UK

  • 27 Oct 2016

Cembrit has launched its Windstopper Extreme sheathing board in the UK. Typically installed behind decorative rain screen cladding to seal the internal environment, Windstopper Extreme is a fire resistant alternative to traditional cement particle boards.

ada12583c94e1886_800x800arThe sheathing board acts as a windproof membrane for exterior walls, with the ability to absorb and release moisture without affecting its durability, strength or performance.

Able to withstand considerable fluctuations in weather and climatic conditions, the Windstopper Extreme enables moisture generated within the building to pass through to the outside.

Insulation can be placed directly against the inner side of the board which is resistant toward both rot and fungal growth.

To coincide with its UK launch, the board was tested to BS EN 1634-1:2015 / BS 476:22 at the Building Research Establishment (BRE) to determine its fire resistance, during which it achieved a one hour fire rating.
