  • 3 May 2024

Leading UK manufacturer Building Product Design Ltd has promoted John Mellor to the role of head of marketing overseeing its three market-leading brands – Glidevale Protect, Passivent and Kingfisher Louvres.

John will drive Building Product Design’s communications strategy and engage with key customers and stakeholders. As well as highlighting the various products and technical services available across Building Product Design’s brand portfolio, John will also continue to play a key role in developing the company’s sustainability commitment as the lead of the organisation’s Group Sustainability Board.

Most recently, John was part of the team that worked on helping Glidevale Protect to achieve three new Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for its leading wall construction membranes. In his new marketing position, he will help ensure that customers can access reliable and detailed information about all of the company’s environmental initiatives.

Building Product Design’s dedicated product range across individual brands has been specifically developed to help build healthy solutions, including ranges designed to improve the operational energy efficiency of buildings. In addition, the company has also launched a number of in-house initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of its business operations.

As well as his passion for sustainability, John is also a passionate advocate of offsite and modular construction, with a keen interest in timber being used as a building material due to its variety of environmental benefits.

‘Trust and transparency’

John comments: “For me, trust and transparency are absolutely crucial cornerstones of a marketing proposition. As a company we pride ourselves on always providing accurate, reliable information and this integrity informs our marketing strategy to ensure we are a voice our customers can trust.

“It is something that has shaped my career so far and transparency of information has never been more important across the construction materials sector.

“I’m passionate about the products and solutions we offer through Glidevale Protect, Passivent and Kingfisher Louvres and the contribution they can make to creating energy efficient homes and healthy buildings.”

John has worked in various marketing roles in the manufacturing and construction sector for more than 25 years, the last seven of which he has been with Glidevale Protect in the role of Product Manager and, latterly, Senior Product Manager. During that time, he has built up a technical understanding of Glidevale Protect’s products as well as an appreciation of customer needs and wants, understanding what customers demand from such products.
