Meeting ‘The Postman’ was a true red-letter day for Kestrel regional sales director John Gunn – however, the ‘postman’ in question wasn’t from the Royal Mail, but golfing royalty Ian Poulter.
John, who has played golf since he was barely in double figures, bumped into Poulter at the NMBS (National Merchant Buying Society) and BMGS (Building Materials Golf Society) event in Woburn Golf and Country Club, Buckinghamshire.
John commented: “He’s got the name ‘The Postman’ because he always delivers.
“I’m a massive Poulter fan and he has a no-nonsense reputation so I wasn’t sure what he would be like in person, but he was very approachable.
“He gave me a few pointers about the course, and stopped for a photo. It was a real highlight for me because despite the many hours I’ve spent on courses, I’ve met precious few of my golfing heroes!”
Poulter plays from the prestigious Woburn course, which has been home to the British Masters for two decades and regularly ranks amongst the top 100 courses in Great Britain and Ireland.
