Crown Trade adds finishing touch to new Poole housing development

  • 19 Dec 2019

Crown Trade’s high-performance Clean Extreme and Fastflow ranges were recently specified for Poole Housing Partnership’s new supported living accommodation.

The Canford Heath Road Development is a new affordable housing scheme being constructed on the site of the old Gravel Hill Police Station in Poole.

The development has been designed to provide 100 per cent affordable housing, the large development will consist of three blocks with 56 general needs flats in Blocks A and B in addition to Block C which will house six supported living flats for young people with complex needs.

Construction is being undertaken by Dorset-based CG Fry & Son while the first phase interior decoration of Block C – the supported living accommodation – is being carried out by G H Marshall Decorators.

Throughout the project, Poole Housing Partnership (PHP) worked closely with Crown’s technical team to finalise the product specification and create a tailored colour scheme to suit different areas of the development.

Ideally suited to high-traffic areas, Crown Trade’s innovative Clean Extreme Stain Resistant Scrubbable Matt was used on the walls in the hallways, lift lobbies and other common areas within Block C, as well as private spaces including bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens and bathrooms in the supported living flats.

With an impressive durability level of 10,000 scrubs, based on the ISO 11998 testing method, and a formulation that is 100 per cent more resistant to common household stains than a standard vinyl matt emulsion, PHP can rest assured it will retain its just painted sparkle long after the paint has dried – reducing costly maintenance cycles at the same time.

Crown Trade’s Fastflow Quick Drying Undercoat and Satin were then used on interior woodwork, while Crown Trade’s Covermatt emulsion was also applied to all the ceiling areas as part of the new development.

Being water-based, Crown Trade’s Fastflow Quick Drying Undercoat and Satin is virtually solvent-free, helping to eliminate any strong odours throughout the decoration process. With excellent flow and a high-quality, high-sheen finish, Fastflow is both durable and resistant to yellowing – ensuring the paintwork at Canford Heath Road will look as good as new for years to come.

The colour scheme for the supporting living accommodation at Canford Heath Road was specified with assistance from Crown’s in-house colour specification team who suggested several different options that would meet required regulations while also creating the homely finish PHP was looking for. All the paint used for the project was tinted to the specified shades by the Crown Decorating Centre in Poole.

David Hood, asset and development manager at PHP comments: “PHP has been working in partnership with Crown on its cyclical painting programme for many years so using products from Crown Trade on this project was the obvious choice. We’ve received exceptional service from Crown so far and we expect our partnership to continue for many years to come”.
