The latest CPD from Tata Steel looks at the use of ‘Pre-finished Steel Standing Seam Systems for Roof and Wall Cladding.’
With the popularity of such systems increasing, and performance heavily dependent on specifying high quality materials – the CPD gives architects essential information and considerations around the use of pre-finished steel.
The 45-minute RIBA CPD Assessed Material explores standing seam systems and what can be accomplished visually through both colour, effect and tone.
Pre-finished steel options are increasingly chosen by designers who are looking to achieve the visual character of copper or zinc, but with a high performance building material that is speedy and simple to work with.
Pre-finished steel can emulate these visual effects immediately, providing architects with certainty over the final aesthetic.
When it comes to long term performance and making an informed specification, the CPD offers an insightful overview of current market perceptions versus the reality; an understanding of the durability and testing process, as well as building methods, detailing, design possibilities and installation considerations.
Supported with some key case study examples, the new CPD provides practical information on the relevant building regulations, as well as the sustainable credentials of steel with the potential to integrate renewables.
Amanda Hinks-Edwards, Business Manager at Colorcoat Urban®, commented: “The new CPD ensures that architects come away with a firm understanding of the aesthetic and performance capabilities of pre-finished steel standing seam systems.
“Whether it is an urban or rural environment, a traditional or contemporary design, pre-finished steel can achieve stunning visual results for even the most complex of designs.
“Given its rising popularity for residential projects in the UK, it is vital architects are given the necessary information to ensure their specification meets the design requirements.
“It is of course advisable that this is also with a reputable manufacturer that can provide both a high quality product and the technical support required.”
