UK manufacturing has been hit with so many challenges in the last 12 months and there remain plenty of challenges ahead for 2021, explain EverEdge.
Between lockdowns and restrictions on international trade, UK manufacturing has faced one of the most challenging years in modern times.
Large swathes of the industry shut their doors completely in March, in line with government guidelines, which led to an immediate hit to the companies whose stocks rely on those industries.
Although many manufacturers began work again in April, the extra safety measures in place limited productivity and output.
This shut down EverEdge’s ability to manufacture products – this, together with increased sales as people stayed at home and spent extra time on their gardens, meant 2020 was a year in which the company’s manufacturing was barely able to keep up with demand.
EverEdge described it as a ‘good problem’ to have and it was grateful that to be one of the companies that was able to keep going through the lockdowns, with many of us working from home.
2021 see plenty more challenges ahead, with a massive shortage of steel worldwide, partly caused by an uptick in auto manufacturing in the second half of 2020. There is also a shortage of cardboard in the European markets.
EverEdge’s entire range is manufactured in the British Midlands, which provides cover from the current problems faced by importers.
Its manufacturing setup is robust; while some delays are predicted over the next six months in the ability to despatch products, the company remains confident in its supply chain and its ability to manufacture products to meet deadlines.
2021 has many challenges in store, but it also has a big shining light at the end of this long dark tunnel. EverEdge is hopeful this year will see a return to normality creeping in.
