The Hush Slab range of sound absorbing insulation slabs from Hush Acoustics helps architects and specifiers to achieve excellent acoustic performance in separating walls, floors and ceilings without compromising fire protection.
Available in four different thicknesses (100mm, 75mm, 50mm and 25mm) the absorber slab combines superior sound reduction properties with an A1 fire classification.
This means the product complies with the requirements of non-combustible materials/products, as defined in all the Building Regulations covering the UK and Ireland, making it suitable for use in separating floor/ceiling and wall designs where the specification also seeks to reduce the spread of fire.
Hush Slab also offers excellent thermal performance which may also be beneficial to the design of connected homes – new build or refurbishment.
The highest performance is delivered with the thickest slab option – Hush Slab 100 – which has a thermal resistance (m2K/W) of 2.85, with the thinnest product Hush Slab 25 offering a value of 0.70.
These performance characteristics, all of which is detailed in a newly published datasheet, result from Hush Slab’s high density mineral fibre composition, which is derived from inorganic rock.
This also makes the product extremely durable as the material will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria, nor does it sustain vermin, and it is rot-proof, odourless and completely non-hygroscopic.
Hush Slab can be specified as part of an appropriate internal wall, floor or ceiling design, including Robust Details designs, or it can be supplied as part of a fully tested Hush Acoustics systems.
These systems are designed to provide an ‘off the shelf’ solution to suit timber and masonry/concrete floor constructions, along with timber, masonry or steel frame separating walls, to comply with Building Regulations Part E (England and Wales), Section 5 (Scotland) and Part G (Northern Ireland).
Robert Crampton, Managing Director of Hush Acoustics, says: “The new building safety regime resulting from the recently introduced Building Safety Act understandably focuses specification decisions on achieving sufficient levels of fire protection.
“But this does, of course, need to be balanced with other important building performance goals including acoustics, which is why products like Hush Slab have an important role to play in helping meet all the Building Regulations relating to separating wall and floor/ceiling constructions.”
Hush Slab is part of a range of high quality acoustic products available from UK manufacturer and supplier Hush Acoustics. It offers everything from acoustic floor panels, including the market-leading Hush Panel 28, cradles and wall boards to acoustic sealants, rubber-based membranes and sound absorber panels to address reverberation issues.
