The Scottish Business Pledge is aimed at creating lasting economic success and building sustainable business growth with fairness, equality, opportunity and innovation.
To meet the pledge criteria, companies must provide a high standard of employment conditions, improve workforce engagement and support youth development.
CMS was recently named Skills Development Scotland’s (SDS) Youth Employer of the Month.
More than 60 young people have completed Modern Apprenticeships with CMS over the past 2 years, in glass supporting structure fabrication, window installation, surveying and business administration.
The door and building envelope manufacturer has also offered work placement opportunities to seven young people from North Lanarkshire as part of the Certificate of Work Readiness qualification, providing its own training within its Innovation Hub.
CMS also holds status as a Living Wage Accredited employer; it has no employees on zero hours contracts, a commitment to a 50/50 gender balance and dual accreditation for Investors in People Gold and Investors in Young People (IIYP).
The MCRMA, the industry association dedicated to the metal cladding and roofing sector, is to hold a members’ technical conference in September.
