Based in the Netherlands, the Town Hall accommodates social security services and regular municipal services, such as marriage registry and passport distribution.
The building’s recent refurbishment saw a new layout for the ground floor, which was designed make the public services area accessible from the main entrance.
An open environment accommodates waiting rooms, public counters and consultation rooms.
The originally dark building has been filled with light, highlighting its golden slabs, concrete structure and other distinctive features.
For the refurbishment, the publicly-funded municipality needed to source cost-effective materials that could offer durability and efficiency.
Natural acrylic stone HI-MACS was specified for the job.
The material was able to cater for the building’s needs, lending its thermo cured, non-porous and resistant attributes to the project.
Supplied in the shade Arctic White, HI-MACS was used to compliment the building’s original undamaged concrete structure, combining contemporary trends with traditional aesthetic.
The material works to diffuse light to the service areas, allowing the reception area to stand out.
Whilst creating the illusion of space, this also serves to offer feelings of professionalism and calm.
HI-MACS has also been used to create touch screens, which allow for an efficient self-service reception area.
