Legionella Certification scheme targets the rental market

  • 28 Sep 2015

Stroma Certification has announced the introduction of a new certification scheme designed specifically for the rental market.

The Legionella Certification scheme will allow members to carry out legionella assessments for owners of large housing stock, with certified status given following full training and audited checks of competence.

Legionella Certification scheme

Stroma recently carried out a survey of the energy assessor industry and found that more than 80% of respondents were interested in diversifying their current service catalogue.

Legionella services were recognised as a key opportunity for growth. In response, Stroma has designed a package of legionella services comprising certification, dedicated software and training.

Both experienced legionella assessors and new market entrants will be targeted with the scheme, which will offer tuition in the requirements of the industry, provide a competence standards to ensure credibility and provide the support to maintain those standards.

All members will be supported through a dedicated system of benefits. The Legionella software uses Stroma’s workflow management software, Tracker, optimised for the rental market.

The software enables industry standard Legionella forms to be completed digitally in the field on mobile devices.

All data is then stored securely in a back office management system to reduce reliance on paperwork and make the management of a property portfolio much easier.

Further benefits include ‘Pay Per Click’ Professional Indemnity Insurance, annual Continuing Professional  Indemnity (CPD) sessions to update legionella legislation and free technical support from a dedicated team.

Risk Assessment training

Further dates have also been added over the coming months for Stroma’s Legionella Risk Assessment training course.

This provides the foundation required to join the new certification schemes and also includes a live demonstration of the Legionella software which is available to all members.

The course has already retrained a large number of new market entrant, in addition to experienced rental market practitioners who have an existing equivalent training qualification.

Matt Ferguson, Managing Director, said: “I am delighted to be launching our new Legionella Certification scheme.

It appeals to both our core industry and the large rental market and there are numerous opportunities available for those wishing to provide a more diverse range of property assessment services. All members will be subject to full auditing and certification procedures to ensure a high standard of competence and the delivery of expert legionella assessors into the rental market.”

Applications for the new scheme are now being taken online
