London’s iconic Duke Street apartments have benefitted from a new guttering system from Alumasc Rainwater.
Duke Street is set in an high-end area of the West End featuring commercialised buildings and expensive, listed properties dating back as early as the 18th century.
Latitude Architects specified Alumasc Rainwater’s Painted Cast Iron and Heritage Cast Aluminium guttering systems for the project.
The main objective of the project was to provide and produce material as close to the original as possible.
Bespoke castellated guttering was installed with special curled ear belts to secure the pipes. The Painted Cast Iron and Heritage Cast Aluminium guttering was custom-made to fit at the specific angle and level of the building, to provide an exact replication of style to the original.
Developed to last in excess of 100 years, the fully-painted and factory-finished Cast Iron guttering is ideally suited to traditional settings and is popular on many heritage properties in the UK.
Alumasc Rainwater’s Cast Aluminium range provides lightweight product that are both low maintenance and corrosion resistant.
This project also involved specialist support from a Cast Iron specialist both on and off site. Contractor Greg Nixon commented: “The technical support provided by Alumasc Rainwater was excellent.
We received numerous site visits and assistance from a Cast Iron specialist to talk over the design. This contributed towards securing the project, which took just four months to complete.”
