ASSA ABLOY UK has been praised for its collaborative approach and attention to detail for its work at the new Birmingham Dental Hospital & School Dentistry.
The hospital stands as the UK’s first integrated dental hospital and school for almost 4 decades. The development is viewed as a key element of the new Edgbaston Medical Quarter and enhances the city’s reputation as a hub for Medicine, Learning and Life Sciences.
The new facilities will be home to a range of services for the public including emergency dental care, restorative, oral surgery, oral medicine, orthodontics and paediatric dentistry delivered by Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust and the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry.
The public will have access to all dental services in one wing of the building, with the second wing providing world-class research facilities, including a production laboratory and a modern learning environment for over 600 undergraduate and postgraduate students and trainees.
ASSA ABLOY UK Specification was contacted from the initial design of the project to provide over 500 timber door sets and architectural ironmongery for the project. Specification also included Laminate faced doors with painted frames, in addition to Scanflex door furniture that offers the simple lines and functionality of classic Scandinavian design.
David Wigglesworth, Managing Director of UK Specification, a division of ASSA ABLOY UK commented: “To win such a prestigious project as one of the first for UK Specification really showcases our ability and expertise in the specification process, with the backing of the global leader in door opening solutions.
“To receive such high praise from the management team, in such a personal way, is a great achievement and the whole team should be proud. It’s a great precedent to illustrate our commitment to working closely with building contractors and end users, ensuring total security solutions fit with a building’s strong visual identity.”
