Damp-proofing membrane systems protect new-build from the elements

  • 22 Feb 2016

A damp-proofing system from Delta Membrane Systems has been installed at a new-build residential property in Burnham Overy Staithe in Norfolk.

The area is regularly prone to flooding during spring tides and winter storms. The property features thick reinforce concrete external walls which are designed to resist adverse weather conditions, with a selection of Delta products ready to offer a second line of defence.

Products installed include Delta MS500 and Delta PT to the internal face of the walls prior to plastering.

Damp-proofing products

Made of 0.6mm virgin thick high density polyethylene, Delta MS500 features an 8mm studded membrane which was applied to all ground floor walls. The studs are designed to create a daring path, allowing up to 135 litres/minute/metre of incoming water to be drained.

The Delta PT Lath was also selected for the project. Th high performance polyethylene meshed membrane is extruded into a series of studs to create a continuous air gap behind the waterproof membrane.

The membrane features a welded mesh that allows plasters and renders to bond efficiently to achieve dry and durable finishes.

Last but not least, Delta MS20 was installed on the floors. The HDPE membrane with 20mm studs offers a compressive strength rating of 150kN/m2 and high capacity drainage to copy with the heavy demands.
