  • 24 Feb 2016

Wienerberger’s e4 brick house has been recognised as the “Most Innovative New Product” at the housing Innovation Awards 2016.

Now in its fifth year, the Housing Innovation Awards highlight examples of inventive and original schemes and services within the housing sector.

The Wienerberger e4 brick house was developed as a solution to the need for affordable and sustainable housing in the UK. The model was designed in conjunction with global engineering and design consultancy ARUP and focuses on energy, economy, environment and emotion.

The house utilises a fabric first approach, using a clay building envelope to deliver reduced energy needs, meaning lower running costs for the occupier.

Utilising BIM

As the construction industry moves closer towards the widespread adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM), the e4 brick house has utilised its design, planning and operational management benefits.

Our e4 brick house is about building better homes and using new and more efficient ways to achieve this.

This award win is great recognition that we are on the right path and a fantastic reward for everyone who has been involved in the development of the project over the past three years.

There were some excellent projects being showcased at the event showing how innovative and passionate the sector is about providing high quality homes for people to live in. It was an honour to be nominated alongside them and we’d like to congratulate all our fellow nominees and winners.”
