WOLFIN’s homogenous single ply roof and waterproofing membrane Tectofin RV has been specified for an office block conversion in Chester.
Comprising 64 apartments overlooking the nearby racecourse, The Broadley Group converted the office block into a new hotel, which is part of the Roomzzz Aparthotel Group.
The construction involved a new Metsec inverted pitched steel frame being added over the exiting concrete flat roof deck to add an additional storey to the building. The Broadley Group worked with roofing contractor Karl Austerfield Roofing to ensure the membrane it incorporated had excellent stability and handling.
A key benefit of the fleece-backed Tectofin singly ply system is that it quickly becomes weather tight, allowing internal work to continue without interruption.
The acrylic rubber of the system, coupled with its fleece-backed polymeric PCV, adds resilience against strains on the roof or building movement associated with lightweight structures, as seen in the Roomzzz Chester project.
This improves the membranes life-expectancy and enables homogenous hot air welding of the seams. Tectofin RV can then be laid loosely under ballast or secured with specialist adhesives.
Tectofin membranes are 100% recyclable and meet the requirements of DIN V 20000-201, 202 and BBA.
Karl Austerfield commented: “The Tectorfin RV has excellent temperature and weather resistance. This made the product easy to handle, but because it also stays flexible throughout the colder months, any maintenance needing to be carried out in later years will be equally stress-free.”
The Roomzzz Chester project was completed in time for the hotel’s opening at the beginning of April.
A rundown office and warehouse building completely transformed into a modern headquarters for Atlas Copco has been fitted with more than 120 internal fire doors from Enfield Speciality Doors.
