Talentum UV/Dual IR flame detectors in Bloodhound supersonic car

Talentum flame detectors on display at FIM Expo

  • 7 Apr 2016

FFE will be showcasing its Talentum UV/Dual IR flame detectors, which are being used in the Bloodhound supersonic car, at this year’s FIM Expo.

The Bloodhound Project is a global engineering scheme, which is aiming for a world land speed record. Through this, it hopes to inspire the next generation to explore science, engineering and technology.

FFE’s Talentum flame detection products have been specified for use in the Bloodhound supersonic car’s safety system.

Talentum UV/Dual detectors

By using infra-red sensing, the Talentum UV/Dual detectors can identify visible and invisible flames from a variety of sources, irrespective of any smoke, dust or steam that may be present. The detectors are also immune to false flame sources and the adverse effects of wind or draughts.

The detectors will be on display at this year’s FIM Expo, which is scheduled to take place at Leeds Football Club on 27th April. FFE’s Fireray 500 motorised optical beam smoke detector, which has been developed to provide coverage of large areas, will also be exhibited.

In addition to this, FFE will be showcasing its upcoming Fireray 3000 Exd optical beam smoke detector, which can resist the impact of explosions. It has been developed to provide warning or smouldering or smoke-generating fires in potentially explosive atmospheres, such as oil rigs and ordnance stores.
