Specialist contractor Imperial Resin Coatings has installed a fast curing Sikafloor PurCem polyurethane resin system at Young’s Seafood Ltd in Grimsby. The flooring system offers a hard-wearing surface, slip and chemical resistance and a smooth finish.
Sikafloor was specified as part of the refurbishment of three food processing areas. The existing tile floor was installed in the 1970’s and was in desperate need of replacement.
There was decaying concrete beneath the tiles which needed to be ground out and a large standing water issue which meant that the contractor had to create falls in one area.
After removing the existing tiles, Imperial Resin Coatings carried out a dust free grind out before fitting 85m2 of Sikafloor 20N PurCem, laid at a depth of 6.9mm to meet the strict food industry standards and withstand the heavy food processing equipment.
Sikafloor 20N PurCem is a polyurethane modified cement screed that is resistant to chemicals, fatty acids and temperature. Its joint-free surface is slip and abrasion resistant.
