A portable flow meter from Micronics has been specified to monitor the flow rates of a pharmaceutical company’s water distribution system, in a bid to save energy.
Energy saving is an important consideration in all sectors of industry: it can significantly reduce costs, whilst having a beneficial impact on the environment. The healthcare industry endeavours to monitor the flow of water to ensure it makes energy savings, for instance.
When a blue chip pharmaceutical company required help and advice on an ongoing energy saving project, Triple Red – a primary supplier of equipment and servicing for water purification in the healthcare sector – was contracted to provide assistance.
Triple Red’s team identified the need to replace a 22kW pump on a pure water distribution system, which operated continuously, with an inverter-driven 5.5kW pump.
Micronics Portaflow 220, a portable flow meter, was specified to monitor the pump and ensure it achieved the required flow rate.
The unit has been designed to clamp onto any pipe, eliminating the need for cutting and welding. Its straightforward installation process appealed to Triple Red; the system was able verify flow rates in minimal time, whilst reducing disruption to the research facility.
By accurately monitoring and measuring the flow of water through its pipes, the pharmaceutical company will be able to progess with its energy saving initiative.
