The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) has re-launched its technical Data Sheets to ensure that its Members are kept up to date with correct information and guidance.
The Federation has revised and updated its Data Sheets, in line with the latest British, European and International standards.
The updated publications provide technical knowledge and industry advice to GGF Members and the wider glass and glazing industry.
The Federation now offers a comprehensive set of curved glass Data Sheets, which have been developed to provide advice on all available types: from annealed and thermally treated, to laminated and insulating units.
The publications address a number of issues, such as shape requirements, tolerances and visual quality. They also detail the testing and performance necessary to classify curved safety glass within the UK, in line with BS 1SO 11485-3’s safety requirements.
The claim for manufacturers and installers of curved safety glass is also included, with the steps required for compliance.
Updated GGF Data Sheets in Section 4 include:
GGF has also revised and updated any Data Sheets providing advice on the testing and installation of adhesive backed polymeric films, following the circulation of EN 15752-1 and EN 15755-1.
The publications now draw particular attention to water quality during installation, cure times and preparation of the glass surfaces to be filmed.
Updated GGF Data Sheets in Section 5 include:
Following the revision of GGF Data Sheet 4.4.1 for thermally treated soda lime silicate glass products, two new publications have been added to Section 4. These include:
These publications address anisotropy, iridescence and other issues, which often become noticeable as larger and higher performing glass types are used. They also detail the effects of incident polarized light and the necessary viewing angles to emphasise this phenomenon.
GGF has also granted access to its complete suite of security glazing Data Sheets with the 8.1 series. The publications provide technical advice and information, which can be used to help mitigate the effects of firearms attack, blast resistance and manual attack.
