Midilift SL enhances access at Marriott Hotel

  • 21 Jun 2016

Stannah has provided a Midilift SL platform lift to improve access for all at Birmingham’s Marriott Hotel.

The Marriott’s new hydraulic platform lift connects its ground floor reception area to its lower ground floor Leisure Club, enabling access to the gym, pool, spa bath and steam room.

The freestanding enclosure was installed to replace the hotel’s existing lift. Comprising 22 glass panels, it offers 360 degree visibility, whilst complementing its contemporary surroundings; its white finish adds to its overall aesthetic appeal.

The lift is controlled via push-buttons, which are located on the inside of the 1,100mm x 1,400mm platform. It travels at a comfortable speed of 0.150m/s, boasting single phase-power consumption that reduces running and maintenance costs.

Several safety features, such as a telephone, a timed ceiling light and anti-slip floor, have been included to ensure the Midilift SL is suitable for use. A cantilever bracket was used to anchor the lift to the hotel’s central stairway for additional stability.

The installation of the Midilift SL has helped the owners of Birmingham’s Marriott Hotel to adhere to the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 and Section 4.2 of the Technical Handbook (Scotland)
