Changing Places at The Booking Office

Changing Places toilet installed in new Wetherspoon’s pub

  • 18 Jul 2016

A new pub, featuring a Changing Places assisted accessible toilet, has opened by Edinburgh’s Waverley Station.

JD Wetherspoon has invested over £2 million in rejuvenating the site, which previously served as a Chinese buffet. By choosing to install a Changing Places assisted accessible toilet, the company has demonstrated its commitment to cater for everyone’s needs.

The new pub – named The Booking Office – is among many JD Wetherspoon venues to offer the facility, fortifying the company’s reputation for providing a high standard of toileting facilities in the leisure and hospitality sectors.

Changing Places

Supplied and fitted by Clos-o-Mat, the Changing Places WC enables those who need help with their personal care to visit and enjoy the new pub. Situated by the main bar area, it complements the conventional female, male and wheelchair-accessible facilities at The Booking Office.

Designed to provide more space than a conventional wheelchair-accessible WC, Changing Places toilets include a hoist and an adult-sized changing bench, which is height adjustable.

A Changing Places toilet is now considered ‘desirable’ under Building Regulations Approved Document M 2015 and BS8300:2009 for all public refurbishment projects and new builds. More than 850 Changing Places facilities have been opened at venues across the UK.

Clos-o-Mat is able to supply, install, commission and maintain accessible toileting equipment; it also offers design advice, project management and references, such as CAD drawings and white papers, for those considering the installation of a Changing Places toilet.
