Fermacell’s latest CPD explains the benefits of using gypsum fibreboards in modern construction.
Entitled ‘Modern construction needs modern materials’, the CPD offers an insight into the manufacture of Fermacell’s gypsum fibreboards, explaining how the systems can be used. It also discusses the performance characteristics of the boards, the installation process and what different product options are available.
Frequently asked questions will be addressed, and independent cost comparisons will demonstrate how the system – branded ‘fermacell’ – can be used as a cost-effective alternative to performance plasterboard.
fermacell is a fibre-reinforced gypsum-based board, which has been developed for use in partitioning. Designed to replicate the performance properties of solid blockwork, the boards are suitable for ceilings and dry-screed flooring.
The boards can be used to provide acoustic insulation and resistance to moisture and impact in dry-lining applications. They can also be used as racking boards in timber frame construction.
Sustainably manufactured in four factories across Europe, the panels contain 90% recycled material. They are available in a range of dimensions, in four thicknesses, with square or tapered edges; each product option offers compliance with Building Regulations Parts E and F for acoustics and fire.
The boards have been accredited by the BBA, Robust Details and ETA; they have also been tested to CWCT standards for use as a backer board in an external ventilated rainscreen application.
In its ‘Modern construction needs modern materials’ CPD, Fermacell will explain the benefits of its gypsum fibreboards in greater detail. It is available on request.
