Protan’s PVC membranes have been specified for use on the roofs of five units at London’s new Greenwich Shopping Park.
Designed by Ratcliffe Groves Partnership (RGP), the units will accommodate popular retailers and chains, such as Matalan, Starbucks and Frankie & Benny’s. Cardy Construction has been contracted to build the new units, following the handover of Greenwich Shopping Park’s final section.
PVC membranes from Protan have been specified for use on the roofs. RKC Roofing worked to adhere approximately 600 square metres of 1.5mm EX-A fleece laminated membrane to each of the exposed roofs on units A, B, C and D.
Certified to ≤ -30°, EX-A has been developed to resist and protect against adverse weather conditions, whilst boasting durability in excess of 30 years.
A similar quantity of Protan’s Bio-Diverse G membrane was selected for use on Unit E, a two-storey corner build that will contain management offices and the site security suite; Frankie & Benny’s will be located on the ground floor.
As a green roof was specified, Protan G was deemed the most suitable solution. Reinforced with glass fibre, the PVC membrane is a microbe durable solution for inverted roofs, gravel ballasted roofs and green roofs.
It can resist both high and low temperatures, as well as attacks by micro-organisms. The implementation of a bio-diverse roof has formed part of Greenwich Shopping Park’s environmental credentials for BREEAM: it is set to achieve a ‘Good’ rating upon completion.
