Ellis Patents has extended its product range to include Trident, a trefoil polymeric cleat which has been designed for use with smaller electrical cables.
The demand for smaller, all-plastic trefoil cleats is high in Continental European countries, such as Germany and Holland. Trident has been developed to fill a gap in Ellis’ product portfolio: available in six sizes, ranging from Ø24-54mm, the cleats will be circulated in international and domestic markets.
Through Trident, Ellis hopes to make sales gains in new areas of the market, which it has not previously competed in.
“This product development will place Ellis on a better-than-even footing with major plastic cleat manufacturers throughout Europe,” claims Richard Shaw, the company’s Managing Director.
With an FEA-optimised design, Trident is manufactured in V0 0H 30% glass-filled nylon as standard. It can also be specified in a LUL approved polymer, which offers compliance with London Underground standard 1-085.
Both adaptations have been short-circuit-tested to IEC61914.
Cleats for Ø34-41mm are now available; other sizes will be offered throughout the remainder of the year, as tooling is finalised.
