Dulux Trade’s ‘Dulux Academy’ has developed a series of courses on colour, designed specifically for professional specification and applier industries.
Earlier this year, Dulux opened the Dulux Academy, a dedicated training facility for professional painters within the domestic and commercial decoration and refurbishment markets.
From January 2017, the Academy will offer a new collection of ‘Colour and Design’ courses; the classes will combine colour theory with practical tasks, designed to give delegates the opportunity to obtain and practice new design and application skills.
Attendees will also be introduced to the new Dulux Trade Colour Futures 2017 collection, and given an insight into the interior trends that are starting to emerge for the year ahead.
The courses have been developed in response to an industry-wide lack of confidence and understanding when it comes to using colour. The sessions will enable industry professionals – such as decorators, property developers, architects and interior designers – to apply colour in a thoughtful and considered way.
Each of the seven courses will provide credits towards the City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Colour, Design and Professional Decorating – a qualification that has been established specifically for the Dulux Academy.
Dulux is offering introductory level sessions on colour theory, to advanced courses on creating and designing schemes compliant with the latest colour trends. The sessions have been designed to fit around professionals’ busy schedules, with half, full and two-days to choose from.
Running from 16th to 17th February, ‘Designing Beautiful Living Spaces’ will engage with theories from Colour Science, Culture and Theory. It will also educate on the language of colour, offering practical guidance on designing interior schemes. Delegates will be encouraged to use these theories to experiment in the practical challenges which will run throughout the course.
The ‘Colour and Legislation’ course, set to take place on 16th March, will discuss the legislative guidance laid down by the Equality Act 2010. As the specification of colours and decorative schemes in public housing, education, hospitality and healthcare is governed, the course will provide regulatory guidance on colour, contrast and Light Reflectance Values (LRV).
Attendees will learn how to select the correct shade from the Dulux Trade notation system, and how to use a variety of Dulux Trade tools.
