Knauf recently introduced the Slimgrid suspended ceiling system, which promises a 30% reduction in installation time, another Knauf innovation aimed at reducing time and complexity on site.
Installation is quick with the patented click feature clip design, a simple method of connecting components during installation. In addition, pre-punched slots for accurately spaced grid installations without the need for measurement and alignment on site makes installation quick and hassle-free.
The Slimgrid provides a low-void ceiling with the concealed grid system for plasterboard ceiling linings ideal for maximising room height. Therefore, it is most sited for refurbishments and repeatable small sized ceilings.
Interior fit-out specialist Met-Excel was an early adopter of the Slimgrid system, recommending the system due to its time and cost-saving attributes for an office refurbishment project in Manchester.
Simon Hill, Met-Excel Sales Director explained that the system gives a faster installation because of the simplicity in its design, making it appealing to main contractors as it can reduce contract programme times.
The grid system is capable of maintaining a ceiling load of 19.85kg/m2 under typical grid configuration, as it is manufactured from hot-dipped galvanised steel. It is suitable for either single or double skin board finishes.
Knauf Slimgrid was tested in accordance with BS 476: Part 23 with Knauf plasterboard, contributing to a warranted system for fire rated ceiling assemblies, providing structural fire protection for up to one hour.
The system is rapidly acquiring a reputation for first-rate ease of use on site, following its launch into the UK market in late 2016.
