REHAU provides the most durable sewerage pipe solutions on the market

  • 5 Jul 2017

REHAU’s high specification sewerage pipes have been chosen for a diversion installation on the Thatchers Cider factory site in Sanford, Somerset.

REHAU’s AWADUKT HPP SN16 250mm pipework was requested for the installation by Wessex Water because of its outstanding durability and strength.

The diversion of sewerage required on the Thatchers site, meant that the pipework would be laid underneath where a new building is to be constructed, so Wessex Water needed a robust solution which would be up to the challenge.

The AWADUKT HPP SN16 is the strongest sewerage pipe on the market, with a minimum ring stiffness of 16KN/m3. It is suitable for applications such as those used at the Thatchers factory due to its high static and dynamic load bearing capacity.

In addition, it comes with a ten year manufacturer’s warranty and it has a 100 year service life.

Dancourt Construction carried out the sewerage diversion in Sandford for the 220 metres of pipework.

Matt Reay from Dancourt Construction found that considering how strong the pipes are, it was light and easy to install, largely due to the ease of cutting the pipe and joining it.

REHAU’s heavy-duty sewerage pipes – available in 1m, 3m and 6m lengths – also feature unique COOL COLOUR Technology, which uses infrared reflecting colour pigments to reduce the heating of the pipe should it be exposed to sunlight.

REHAU’s AWADUKT HPP SN16 can be fitted with a safety-lock sealing system to ensure seals are not accidentally pushed out during connection, and that the installation is sound enough to be used in water protection areas (II and III).

The pipes and joints have also earned the IKT seal of approval to show they are impermeable to external water getting into the system too.

The 16 sewer pipe systems are also very sustainable. The SN16 has achieved Cradle to Cradle certification with Gold status, ensuring it is made and recycled in accordance with the principles of an endless, ecologically healthy cycle.

Steve Richmond from REHAU explains: “They can be used under extremes of pressure and load, without compromising on performance, and are becoming increasingly popular in municipal drainage, transport terminals, industry and – like the Thatchers site – where they will be laid underneath a building. They are the most robust sewerage pipes on the market, and out customers can fit and forget them, safe in the knowledge that they will stand the test of time.”
