Polyflor meets all requirements at National Waterways Museum

  • 18 Jul 2017

Polyflor’s hardwearing wood effect Expona Flow commercial flooring has been chosen as part of the refurbishment of the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

BWD Ltd interior designers selected Polyflor’s Expona Flow PUR sheet vinyl flooring in Sun Bleach Oak for the museum’s reception area, shop and Waterside Cafe. The flooring features wood grain detail and subtle cool tones.

The Expona Flow PUR flooring collection is available in a 2 metre wide format with a 2mm gauge and 0.7mm wear layer and includes 50 high performance wood stone and abstract designs. The collection is enhanced with Polyflor’s robust polyurethane reinforcement which is cross linked and UV cured for a simple polish-fee maintenance regime and superior cleaning benefits.

Bev Wood, Creative Director at BWD Ltd commented, “Polyflor really understood our need to specify a flooring solution which would deliver an impact, would work with other materials and finishes we had selected, and would be practical for the demands of a busy museum environment.”

Expona Flow achieves a BRE A+ rating for major use areas and Indoor Air Comfort Gold, assuring that VOC emissions are below any globally determined levels. In addition, it is 100% recyclable via the Recofloor recycling scheme and contains recycled material.

The museum, run by the Canal and River Trust, offers visitors an insight into UK canals, rivers and waterways. The project was completed in March 2017.
