Imperial Bricks and Limetec have partnered up to create a Heritage hydraulic lime mortar range, available in ready mixed, 25kg dual-branded bags.
Limetec directly supplied bulk bags and larger quantities of the mortar whilst Imperial sold the product alongside its handmade, wirecut and pressed bricks in builders’ merchants across the UK.
Seven varieties of mortar are available including Natural, Bathstone, Cotswold and Traditional London, and it is manufactured by Tarmac.
Jason Hughes, Managing Director of Imperial Bricks commented on the partnership: “Imperial offer expert advice on the potential combination of bricks and mortar, to match existing brickwork or for a particular regional look. Our ever-expanding range of bricks now has a mortar to suit any style, from traditional houses to more contemporary apartments and offices.”
Peter Munden, Managing Director at Limetec added: “Lime mortar is an absolute necessity when working with handmade bricks, as it allows for natural movement. It offers an improved aesthetic, with a textured finish to match the varied creasing in handmade bricks. It is a breathable material, allowing any moisture within the brickwork to escape naturally, reducing the risk of frost damage and ‘blowing’ of brick faces.
“The benefits of lime mortar are well documented, by increasing the longevity and durability of brickwork – it’s been used in the construction of buildings for over 2,000 years, so we know it works! The mortar is ready to use out of the bag – just add water.”
