The Metal Cladding & Roofing Manufacturers Association has published an updated Advice Note titled Aluminium Composite Material Facade Systems.
The Advice Note has been produced following the completion of the BS 8414 Part 1 fire test programme commissioned by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
The note sets out guidance for those who are responsible for the safety of buildings with the types of facade systems which have been deemed non-compliant; firstly, on the removal of the cladding and/or insulation and secondly, in identifying a solution for the replacement of the facade.
Information issued by the Government via the DCLG should be considered alongside the advice note.
The MCRMA website features details of members who can assist in the rectification of a building, including consultants, professional advisors and manufacturers. Any MCRMA member will be pleased to recommend a reliable installer to help remove and replace an affected facade. All members comply with the MCRMA charter and code of conduct, and all manufacturer members possess ISO 9001 quality accreditation.
