Birmingham build benefits from Bull protection

  • 30 Nov 2017

Bull Products is to supply its high performance Cygnus alarm fire systems whilst the renovation of Birmingham’s new flagship Primark outlet takes place.

The life-saving fire protection equipment will feature at the £60 million, 150,000+ square foot project based at the Pavillions centre, where one of the biggest Primark’s in the UK will be built.

Main contractors began work at the start of 2017, with the Cygnus System introduced with a bespoke sounder delay firmware, providing an early warning system across the site. This particular facet allows workers to prepare for evacuation as soon as the first intermittent alarm can be heard.

This system is also invaluable as it can avert the expensive consequences of false alarms; after the first alert, site authorities check the system and either silence it or evacuate the area depending on what has occurred.

All four floors have been fitted with the alarm units and will remain until December 2018, the project’s completion date.

The Cygnus radio system is undoubtedly a huge innovation in terms of wireless alarms for construction sites and has already featured in some large scale construction projects across the country.

Specialising in emergency fire, first aid, and intruder wireless alarms, manufacturer Bull Products designed the system specifically to be used on construction sites where a far higher performance from the radio in conventional systems is sought because of the constantly changing site conditions and environments.

Managing director at Bull Products, Ross Markham, commented: “We’re delighted to be working on this large project and supplying our Cygnus alarm systems during the work on the new megastore.

“Our alarm system can be used across numerous levels and sites so in the case of a real alarm, the message is communicated to every device within the site; this ensures workers are protected in an emergency”

“We’ve won some exciting projects recently, all of which emphasise the benefits of our Cygnus systems which protect construction sites and workers when it matters the most.”
