A Flushglaze fixed rooflight from Glazing Vision was recently installed as part of the renovation of a Victorian terraced house in North London.
The brief for the renovation included modernising the interior whilst increasing the footprint but without losing the period charm of the Allison Road house. Trevor Brown Architects took on the renovation in Harringey Ladder, adding a new contemporary extension to the building
The extension created a new kitchen, however without windows the room was in desperate need of some natural light. Glazing Vision provided the ideal solution with its Flushglaze fixed rooflight.
The rooflight was ideal as it could be fitted to abut all three walls that framed the roof of the extension (two from the client’s home, one from the neighbour’s house). In addition, the light was minimalist and did not ruin the views from the garden towards the house, and the lack of unnecessary capping means the rooflight does not trap dirt or debris.
The Flushglaze rooflight was made in three sections, providing a span of 1600mm and a width of 4300mm, with a silicone seal at the join. Lights were positioned beneath the joints, illuminating the kitchen and creating a warm ambience.
Finally, featuring low emissivity glass, argon-filled cavities and warm edge space bars, the rooflight provided excellent thermal performance and the risk of condensation forming on the internal frame was minimal.
