GEZE products have featured heavily in a student housing development in Birmingham, which contains a 21-storey tower block and three low-rise residences.
Housing 725 students, Chamberlain Hall, part of University of Birmingham’s Vale Village scheme, has a TS 3000 EC surface mounted door closer on every single one of the 800-plus bedroom and circulation doors in the building.
This closer has a low opening force, therefore needing less energy to open it; ideal for an educational building.
Stringent safety standards are met, with the closer featuring an adjustable hydraulic latching action and sleek guide rail, as oppose to an obtrusive arm, to make it a safer option for residents.
Kitchen Doors throughout were adorned with the TS 4000 EFS; a pinion toothed door closer with free swing arm function, meaning entry through the door can be obtained with just the slightest push.
There is also an electro hold-open function, guaranteeing safe closing of the door in an event of a fire.
Other products used include the TS 5000 E closers, for lobby doors, with these closers suitable for doors up to 1400mm in width and GEZE Slimdrive EMD-F electro-mechanical swing door operators, with fifteen used throughout the building for entrance doors and rooms for disabled students.
Andy Howland, GEZE’s director of sales and marketing, said the project has helped to provide University of Birmingham students with ‘quality, purpose-built accommodation which is surrounded by nature whilst being in the heart of the city.’
University of Birmingham project manager, Daniel Holmes, praised GEZE’s reliability, saying the company’s products ‘fit the bill and that they were ‘pleased with how they have performed.’
