Aggregate Industries has supplied its Masterdenz® concrete blocks to Plymouth Community Homes, as part of a 72-home, low-energy development.
The scheme has been designed to meet Passivhaus principles, which utilises specific materials and construction methods to lower heating demand in the home and, in turn, primary energy consumption.
To help meet these standards, Aggregate has supplied 14,300 square metres of its Masterdenz concrete building blocks.
These high strength, dense, robust blocks were laid flat in the homes to allow for a quick build speed.
Combined with triple gazed windows, the Masterdenz blocks will retain heat within the new builds, meaning only one radiator is needed per home.
The result is ultra-efficient buildings that need little energy for heating, helping the homeowner and the environment.
This is the first Passivhaus development in Plymouth and Jeremy Lee, sales director for Aggregate Industries’ Building Products, has commented on it.
“We are incredibly proud to be contributing to such a forward-thinking project that commits to the welfare of the residents and the environment.
“Masterdenz® is a robust, high-strength unit chosen for its performance capabilities.
“It was perfectly suited to this particular project, thanks to its durability and efficiency, which will help to retain energy within the home.”
