CMS Window Systems supports YMCA’s after school Childcare Service

  • 3 May 2018

An after-school childcare service for families in Cumbernauld has received a donation from local window, door and curtain walling manufacturer and installer CMS Window Systems.

The Cumbernauld YMCA offers the service in 14 schools, as part of its Out of School Care programme, for children aged 5 to 12.

An extensive range of play and educational activities features arts and crafts, outdoor play, active sports, music and drama, plus homework assistance.

As a not-for-profit organisation and registered charity, the Cumbernauld YMCA relies on the generosity of local businesses and individuals through funding and volunteering to maintain this service.

Jim Cruickshank, Centre Manager at the organisation, described the support from CMS as ‘greatly appreciated’.

He added that the fact there are companies in the community willing to help boosts the moral of staff and users.

As one of the area’s largest manufacturing businesses, with approximately 240 people based at its Castlecary site, CMS Window Systems was keen to support Cumbernauld YMCA.

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise winning company has a strategy of supporting charitable organisations who provide essential services that help people in their everyday lives and enhance the local communities in which CMS works.

David Ritchie, Chief Operating Officer at CMS Window Systems, praised the work of the Cumbernauld YMCA’s Childcare Service.

“Without access to such an excellent service, many people who live and work in and around Cumbernauld, including a number of employees here at CMS, would find it harder to balance work and family commitments, and that’s why it is important for the whole community that it succeeds.”
