C-TEC’s BF366 keyswitch isolatable relay has been fitted as part of an integrated fire alarm and sprinkler system to reduce false alarms at a new care facility in Oslo, Norway.

Accommodating over 100 elderly people, Stovner Forest Nursing Home is located on a hill in Oslo’s Høybråten area.

The home offers dedicated facilities, such as a chapel, a day centre and healing gardens, and hosts cultural events, hiking tours, seasonal parties and a Christmas fair for its residents.

Alike all new buildings in Norway, Stovner Forest Nursing Home was required to fit an integrated fire alarm and sprinkler system to alert the fire brigade in the case of an emergency.

Keyswitch isolatable relay

As a solution, C-TEC’s BF366 keyswitch isolatable relay has been installed at the centre of the home’s life-safety systems.

The relay temporarily disables communications between the fire system and the sprinkler system to ensure that routine tests and maintenance can be carried out without the risk of accidental activation. This reduces the impact of false alarms.

The relay also provides a clear indication of when the sprinklers are ‘isolated’ to satisfy specification requirements.
